“Every sunset is an opportunity to reset.”
Richie Norton

A new start may sound daunting but not a horrible prospect. Think about it for a moment. You probably are feeling burned out or restless and in need of some motivation. Everybody needs a new start from time to time its a necessary part of life.

Making a decision to start fresh means you want your life improved. The kind that needs pruning to get rid of what doesn’t fit and retain what’s healthy and important for you.

The beauty of resetting is that it helps you change your everyday life in whatever shape or type you want, at a rate that you can happily manage to.

When you encourage yourself to start anew with a blank slate, you clear your mind of the entire mess and prepare yourself to hit the ground running in the new chapter.

This reset-button effect can be accomplished by letting go of habits and actions that don’t show you the outcomes you ‘re expecting.

Here are a few tips and tricks to push yourself toward personal reset and to ensure moving forward with restored energy and power.

  1. Recognize where you are and why you need a reset.

Recognizing the truth of the period you are in, is critical. Are you in regret, disappointment, denial or waiting for something better to happen phase? The reason most of us are unable to move on or make a change in their life is that we are stuck in a fake version of reality. The first step we need to take is embracing ourselves, our life and our reality. It will go a long way in deciding goals and the path to follow.

2. Let Go

Having biases and the lack of ownership over reality and mistakes can serve as a blind spot towards the life we think we are supposed to have vs the life we are meant to have. Every failure or mistake should be viewed as a learning opportunity. Accept everything that has happened, forgive yourself if you need to and let it go. The key aspect of a successful reset is letting go of all the baggage that is weighing you down and focusing on the next best steps to a better future.

3. Focus on what you want

Not everything deserves your time and money investment. Visualize who you want to be and where you want to go. You need to start thinking in your mind about the situations that you don't want. It all starts by managing your feelings so you can relax your mind and regulate your emotions better. The roller coaster trip you go on in your head when you’re not in control of your emotions would bring the same ups and downs into your life. To avoid that, controlling your thoughts will enable you to plan ahead and order your steps

4. Take Action

Taking initiative is the only thing that distinguishes the winners from the non-winners. In life, there will never be a perfect time only the present matters. Simply get started, make mistakes, listen to the feedback, correct and keep moving forward toward the goal. Break your goals into little steps you can achieve one at a time to develop trust and self-esteem as you go. When you have a roadmap and clear targets, the new life will start changing.

Bernard Kelvin Clive
